This picture was commissioned by Addison Wesley for the cover of the
Italian edition of the 1996 Java Programming Language book.
I don't know who the artist is: her (or his) signature is illegible.
We liked the image so much that we asked AW if we could have the image
and the rights to republish it, and they graciously agreed. They even
gave us the original watercolor painting - which was stunning. We had
t-shirts made from it and sent the painting to the printer to have it
scanned at high resolution. Somehow, it got "lost".
We never recovered the original watercolor painting.
All we have are these bits.
